Resumen

Durante la temporada de reproducción 1970-1971, el autor estudió la reproducción del pingüino de Magallanes en una colonia de anidación en Janssen Bay, Tombo Point, Chubut (44°00'S y 65°33'24"W). Estudios adicionales se realizaron durante las temporadas de cría 1972-1973 y 1973-1974, en otra colonia cercana ubicada en Clara Point (43°53'S y 65°15'W). Se presentan datos sobre la formación de parejas, anidación, comportamiento de apareamiento, puesta e incubación, mortalidad, muda, migración y otros comportamientos. Los diversos métodos utilizados para la recolección de información en el campo incluyeron: observaciones, elaboración de etogramas con esquemas, adopción de un código de exhibiciones, fotografías, censos circulares, transectas cuadradas y lineales, así como el marcaje de individuos con collares plásticos, pintura, etiquetas y anillos de aluminio
