Description of the diving technique of the Torrent Duck (Merganetta armata) in the Nahuel Huapi National Park, Argentina
Abstract
We describe the Torrent Duck’s (Merganetta armata) diving technique from deep and shallow waters in two rivers of the north-western Patagonia, through 36 observations on 3 individuals. We discuss the possibility that this diving technique is a stereotyped behaviour. We relate the feeding behaviour to the habits of the main preys from the area.
