Abstract
We report the first Chilean record of the Lined Seedeater (Sporophila lineola). The record was done in December 27 and 30, 2011, in the Putana River wetland, Antofagasta Region, at 4250 masl. It was a solitary male, which was observed over a period of four days, and always appeared as a healthy individual in good general condition, adapted to low night temperatures and limited food availability. While it might have been a captive bird break, the isolation of the site where it was observed (due to its altitude and distance from populated centres) makes it unlikely.
