Laino, Rafaela, Karim Musalem, Andrea Caballero-Gini, Diego Bueno-Villafañe, and Silvina Chaparro. 2018. “Habitat Use and Behaviour of Crax Fasciolata in the Paraguayan Humid Chaco”. El Hornero 33 (2): 121-27. https://doi.org/10.56178/eh.v33i2.482.
We studied the abundance and habitat use of Crax fasciolata using camera-traps in different types of forests in the Humid Chaco of Paraguay. We obtained 114 records with a total sampling effort of 996 camera-days, most of them from one and two individuals, with a maximum of five individuals. The highest number of records was obtained in the riparian forest, with a capture success of 20%, and during the spring, with a capture success of 22%. The species showed diurnal activity with most records during the morning. We recommend to deepen these investigations analyzing not only the type of forest but also the time of the year in which the species is recorded in each habitat.
