Abstract
The Pitiayumí parulid (Setophaga pitiayumi) lives in various types of forested, humid and dry environments. It is a species considered resident, with temporary or seasonal movements, solitary and of spaced occurrence either in reproductive pairs or small numbers, or in small flocks. We studied if Pitiayumí is a partially migratory species in Argentina. We carried out 32 days of tagging in three years, during which we captured 188 Pitiayumí in the Horco Molle Reserve, Yerba Buena, Tucumán among 248 individuals of other species. Based on the information collected, we propose that this species has synchronous migration in flocks made up of males, females and subadults, with a seasonal contingency marked with arrivals at the end of August. It probably winters in the yungas forest of northwest Argentina and migrates through the yungas to Bolivia.
