Abstract
The results of stomach contents analysis of twelve Falco sparverius shot during 1985-1987 are given. This is the first contribution to the knowledge of the feeding ecology of this bird in the Middle Parana River Floodplain. The study was carried out in order to know the feeding spectrum, prey size and niche breadth. The results showed a carnivorous diet, consisting of insects, rodents and amphibians, with 7 taxa. The values of the relative importance index bring out the predominance of thc insects, particularly the Acrididae. The remaining taxa should be secondary food categories. In relation to seasonal variation of the diet, it was observed that the diet was uniform throughout the year.
