Beltrán, J., C. Bertonatti, A. Johnson, A. Serret, and P. Sutton. 1992. “Update on the Distribution, Biology and Conservation Status of the Hooded Grebe (Podiceps Gallardoi)”. El Hornero 13 (3): 193-99. https://doi.org/10.56178/eh.v13i3.1062.
Discovery of the Hooded Grebe in 1974 was followed by concern due to its low population size and almost zero reproductive success. In 1979, Fundación Vida Silvestre Argentina (FVSA) started a project intending to evaluate species conservation status and to better know its life cycle. According to data obtained along that project and to published information, it can be said the Hooded Grebe is one of the most common aquatic birds found over the santacrucean plateau. However, given the lack of information on some aspects of its range, seasonal dispersion pattern and wintering grounds, there still remain important doubts about its survival in the long term. Up to more information is available, it is proposed to continue considering the Hooded Grebe a rare species with a restricted range.
