Bellocq, Maria Isabel. 1993. “Breeding, Growth, and Mortality of Speotyto Cunicularia (Burrowing Owl) in Pampean Agrosystems”. El Hornero 13 (4): 272-76. https://doi.org/10.56178/eh.v13i4.1045.
Observation conducted in nests showed Ihe mean clutch size of Speotyto cunicularia was 4.8 ± 1.2 eggs, the mean hatching per nest was 3.5 ± 2.4, and the reproductive success was 0.3 fledges/clutch. High mortality of eggs and young fledges was recorded, mainly due to agricultural practices, predation, and illnesses. Brood size affected the growth of chicks. The artificial nest burrows were not used by the owls.
