Resumen
Las acciones humanas están produciendo grandes cambios en nuestro planeta, los cuales traen aparejados desbalances en uno de los sistemas que regulan las dinámicas poblacionales de vertebrados: la relación parásito–hospedador. En este trabajo se muestra, mediante ejemplos documentados, la acción directa de la contaminación, la fragmentación y el cambio climático, y sus interacciones, sobre la salud de las poblaciones de vertebrados silvestres y sus patógenos. Se presenta el caso de la miasis producida por las moscas del género Philornis, cuyas larvas tienen un comportamiento parásito que afecta a pichones de aves. La ocurrencia de estos parásitos depende de variables climáticas, siendo más abundantes durante períodos de precipitaciones y temperaturas elevadas, lo cual es influenciado por el cambio climático. Además, su abundancia se relaciona con la densidad de nidos, que es afectada por la fragmentación del bosque. En consecuencia, el efecto neto del cambio ambiental global sobre el impacto de este parasitismo depende, al menos, de dos de sus factores interactuantes: el cambio climático y la deforestación.
